The foresight and care invested in »Akka’s« making is evident in many details:
- The cockpit is self-draining; the diameter of the stainless-steel draining tubes is 60 mm (2.4in)
- The »Gebo« portlights in the sides are not simply mounted flat on the hull but are installed in a protective recess
- Meticulously machined TUFNOL plates insulate metal surfaces against each other where steel would otherwise touch steel (e. g. under the pulpit and railing supports or under the mounts of the bathing ladder and the self-steering system on the transom)
- The stainless-steel mast base is not installed directly on the (steel) cabin roof but on a 60-mm teak plate.
